Mary Wilson MD, PC (OBGYN) |
Mary Wilson MD PC, clinical
assistant professor, OB/GYN, medical director of New York Fertility Unit
and Menopause Research Center; editor of "What's New in Medicine", medical
degrees from Continental Europe, England, Ireland and the USA. Post graduate training
in pediatrics, surgerical procedures, OB/GYN, and reproductive endocrinology. Currently licensed in the U.S. and U.K.
After obtaining her MD degree from a University in Europe, Dr. Wilson re-qualified in England with a Batchelor Degree in Medicine and Surgery,
thus becoming a fully registered medical practitioner in the U.K. Since
her father was a renowned pediatrician, Dr. Wilson, Initially commenced
her residency in pediatrics for the Diploma in Child's Health (D.C.H.) She
obtained extensive experience in pediatric surgery, including thoracic and
neurosurgery. Dealing with many congenital abnormalities of new born, Dr.
Wilson's interest became directed towards treatments of pregnant women and
those babies who required exchange blood transfusion in utero.
This prompted her to commence an OB/GYN residency. Because of her skills
, she was distinguished as a resident and transferred to the professorial
unit while in Birmingham University Hospital (U.K.). During her training
she was a senior member of the obstetrical "flying squad" providing rescue
for obstetrical emergencies occurring during home deliveries. Also, she
was on call for OB emergencies and consultations at the GP unit, in the
hospital. She completed the required training for Membership of the Royal
College of OB/GYN in London and her book of cases and thesis was accepted
by the college.
She wrote a gynecological thesis on "Vaginal bleeding in childhood" and
an obstetrical one on "Heat Stable Placental Alkaline Phosphates" - biochemical
studies. After receiving the Diploma of the Royal Collage OB/GYN in London,
Dr. Wilson started in private practice at the famed Harley Street in London.
Shortly thereafter, Dr. Wilson was invited to come to New York to join the staff of
Doctors Hospital. Two years later, Dr. Wilson re-qualified for the third
time and obtained a license to practice medicine from New York University (NYU).
While in Doctors Hospital, Dr. Wilson met her mentors, Dr. Martin Clyman
and Dr. Albert Decker, both renowned fertility specialists. In 1976 , Dr.
Clyman invited Dr. Wilson to join his practice at Park Avenue. She was trained
by him in reproductive Endocrinology, various treatments for infertility
and endocrine Dysfunction. Fertility surgery, including transvaginal pelvic
endoscopy, during which minor pelvic abnormalities could be corrected under
local anesthesia.
The practice was extremely busy, handling an average of 40 infertility patients a day,
4-6 surgical tubal reconstructive procedures and 4-5 operative endoscopic
procedures a week. After Professor Clyman's untimely death, Dr. Wilson,
established the New York Fertility Unit and continued with Dr. Clyman's line
of work, treating all aspects of female infertility.
In 1983, Dr. Wilson underwent training in pelvic and OB ultrasound at the
Baylor College in Houston, and then introduced her first sonographic equipment
in the practice. This allowed her to improve on monitoring ovarian stimulation
while on fertility medication, to diagnose or r/o ectopic pregnancy and
to detect very early pregnancy. She was able to perform amniocentesis, under
sonographic guidance, in the office. During the next few years , the sonographic
equipment was upgraded, a few times, to include transvaginal probes. At
present we have sonogram machine in each patient's room. Our gyn check up
includes sonographic evaluation of the ovaries, and the uterus. It became
of utter importance not only in fertility stimulation, but in menopause.
In 1993, Dr. Wilson practice expanded and she had to move to a larger office
at the present address.
Our patients come from England, Germany, Italy,
Japan, Kuwait, Iran, Jordan, and other countries. Dr. Wilson interests expanded
to alternative, integrated medicine. She became a member of A4M (American
Academy Of Anti Aging Medicine) and presently she is aiming to become board
certified in this specialty.
